In 2022 he won the First Prize for his painting “Jajja” (Grandmother) in the ModPortrait competion in Barcelona Spain, the painting is now part of the permanent collection of MEAM.

In 2015 was awarded with Mentiones di Honor, for his painting “Cats & Dogs” at the Figurativas exhibition in MEAM in Barcelona, the painting is now part of the permanent collection of MEAM.

In 2011, with his painting “Distracted”, Wim Heldens won the BP Portrait Award, of the National Portrait Gallery in London and subsequently in 2017 he was commissioned by The National Portrait Gallery to paint a double-portrait of Sir Harry and Lady Carol Djanogly (Well-known British Philanthropists) This canvas titled “The Collectors” is now part of the permanent collection of the NPG .

In 1998 Wim Heldens won The Menena joy Schwab Award, at The Mall Galleries in London, with his painting “Blue Hair & Braces”, which is now part of the permanent collection of The Arnot Art Museum in Elmira New York.

His paintings found their way into private collections in the Netherlands, England, Germany, Italy, Turkey and the USA, and into collections of the Academic Hospital and the ING Bank in Amsterdam, the Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten The Hague NL, The Municipal Theater in Haarlem NL ( Stadsschouwburg), the City Council in Sittard NL, Ming Dian Gallery Taipei Taiwan.
